CAMILA MURADAS – VISUAL ARTIST, PHOTOGRAPHER, FILMMAKER.
Camila Muradas is a Brazilian-American, born in New Jersey, raised in Brasília, and shaped by extended periods living abroad, including Seoul (2018–2025). Currently based in New York and other destinations, her practice remains deeply connected to South Korea.
Her work is drawn to paradoxes: beginnings and endings, presence and absence, organic and synthetic, nature and culture. It investigates themes of death, entropy, and emptiness, grounded in what is raw, minimal, and honest.
Camila began her intentional creative journey in 2011 alongside academic studies in graphic design and her personal development in yoga and meditation practice. Movement and breath became essential tools for grounding and contemplation, shaping both her life, work, and vision.
Raised in Brasília, surrounded by brutalist architecture and nature, she is fascinated by contrasts between the warm grey concrete, old brown from ground dust, and different human skin tones.
“Every year the district would violently burn from the dry season. We would see wild fires spreading through the horizon. Yet, the cerrado trees would blossom beautifully each time, raising from the ashes, in between the ground, concrete and sky”.
An intimate mixture of ancient and future influences runs through her work. Through photography, fashion, painting, film, and performance, Camila explores coexistence rather than resolution.
Her practice also includes Shibari, the art of emotional rope tying, as a study in paradox: seduction and restraint, dominance and surrender, pain and pleasure. A tactile dialogue through rope, skin, and breath. Together, yoga and shibari inform her search for stillness within movement, presence within absence, and authentic human connection, always returning to what is essential.
Meditation informs her approach with a balance of discipline and intuition, sustaining curiosity and reflection amid complexity and change.
Currently based in New York, exploring a semi-nomadic work structure.
Available for commissions, collaborations, and destination-based projects.
